My computer would not boot up, I kept getting an error of “ummountable boot volume”. I got an XP cd and am trying to reload it. I had to reformat the C drive and its now trying to install. I keep getting errors about not being able to copy files, about 10 in a row now. Here are the files so far:
ws2ifsl.sys
_default.pif
wscript.chm
wscript.hlp
wsecedit.hlp
wsh.inf
wshatm.dll
wshcon.chm
wshisn.dll
wshnetbs.dll
Why is it giving me these errors and will the install work if i keep skipping all these files? I know i will have to download them asap, but will it still install? Is this a problem with the CD or with the computer?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009I received an error message the other day when I went to start up my laptop (“Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: “System32\DRIVERS\pci.sys”. I don’t have the recover disk, so I tried to install a new XP system. However, i keep getting this message when I try to install the new OS–>”An unexpected error (402590852) occured at line 1773 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c” I have no idea what this means. Please send help quickly!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009Hello i am trying to do a clean install of windows xp home editon i currently have xp pro installed ok here my problem i enter the setup and it goes past teh press f6 if you wont the raid etc. drivers i dont press it then it loads and then it says windows is now loading and befor it goes to the repair press r press f8 to aggree and stuff like that i get a blue screen of death (bsod) wich says abotu an error becuase of pci.sys or something

I get that error when I login & before I shutdown my PC
I observed that it creates some files in Local Settings\temp folder
I hav winlogon.exe file at different locations…

Thursday, August 20th, 2009i installed win 98 during installation of win 98 setup gave an error named hwinfo but it got installed and was running fine .but when i tried to install win xp with win 98 the setup gave an error that PCI.sys file currupted .so what should i do to correct this problem and install win xp i tried to install xp on my hard drive with other system but it still gave the same error.
Pci.sys Error While Downgrading To Xp?
Saturday, July 18th, 2009Here is the problem. I am having Dell Precision T7400 Desktop PC, which is installed with Windows Vista. As it don’t have any onboard monitor port, we used a PCI card (Matrox) for the monitor. Right now, we would like to downgrade my PC from Vista to XP. When I tried to downgrade (once it starts installing XP), blue screen appears and says PCI.sys error.
Even tried with different versions of XP. Can someone help me out to solve this issue?
