fix computer errors

I don’t have a windows xp restore cd. The system restore is built within the hard drive. I cant complete the installation. I think my config.sys is corrupted.
I get the error message – Your system has detected a configuration error. Please report this error to customer care using the phone number found in the warranty and support guide that came with your pc from operating properly. Turn off your PC by pressing and holding the power button. After a few seconds your PC will automatically turn off. (code purple)
Could fix it utilties 7 fix this or will i need a windows xp cd
