I was browsing the internet and I was just looking at a post and all the sudden my computer froze up and these pop ups from the xp kept popping up and I couldn’t do anything. Its probably a virus but I restarted the computer but I keep getting this blue screen even in safe mode. Is there a way to save the system and return it to the way it was without having the wipe the harddrive clean?
The Blue Screen says:”
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again (which is does; safe mode or not) , follow these steps.
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adaptors.
Check with your hardware vendor for an BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode. (already did – nothing)

Windows Xp Blue Screen Of Death. Specifics Included In Question. Help?
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010I recently got a blue error message. I believe it was the Blue Screen Of Death (not the “Windows has encountered an error and will be shut down” message), and these are the specifics it gives me:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(and here are the hex addresses it give me under technical information)
*** STOP: 0×000000D1 (0×00000018,0×00000002,0×00000000,0×0xF8…
*** iastor.sys – Address F813125D base at F8122000, DateStamp 422f3bcc
I know a few things about computers. I have a somewhat understanding of how hex works, and those hex values look like addresses. I believe they are literally the source of the problem. I believe my computer was accidentally shut down mid-update, or there might have been a program or driver (or possibly even a virus) that could have interfered with a Windows update and caused it to shut down without finishing said update. Also, I can’t start Safe Mode, I get a string of messages that read like this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI… sys driver here*
It stops with the sys driver on agpCPQ.sys.
In other words, Windows won’t even start up. I know the operating system still exists on the computer because the logo pops up when I try to boot it normally. Plus, system restore doesn’t work; it just restarts my computer.
If anybody can tell me a possible way to fix this problem it would be wonderful. I do have two computers (both running XP) but I’m working on my masters degree and all my homework is on the broken computer. Its all due in just two days so I need help immediately!
Remember, I have two computers both running XP, so if there is a way I can use my working computer to fix my broken one then include that in your answer please. Thank you.
(Closing note, I don’t have the start-up disc.)
Computer Problems. Crashing/blue Screen Etc.?
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010Alright well yesterday my computer started crashing. Restarting itself out of nowhere. Now, its just worse. I did a system restore, thinking everything would be better, but no. It’s not. My firefox randomly crashes, when i try to install AIM on my computer I get the blue screen error, I’ll write what it says after this message. And when I try to play my game, the game crashes. Its just a mess and I don’t know what else to do. If anybody can tell me what to do to try and fix it I’d be appreciative. Here’s what the blue screen error said.

Auto Restart/blue Screen Ofdeath And Other Errors?
Thursday, January 28th, 2010The computer is stuck in a reboot restart mode. I am absolutely unable to log in unless I use the console.
The BSOD Stop codes: 0z0000007e(0xc0000005, 0×87027382b2,Oxf78cf324,0xf78CF020)
None of the command prompt options get me in. When I choose safe mode(any option) the following errors scroll down my screen:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WI…
(there are about 15 of these options; or more).
Then it prompts me to press escape to abort something called SPDT load?
