If I Reformat My Hard Drive And Run Restore (win. Xp And Office 2003) Will It Reload Clean.dll’s?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

How Do I Reformat My Hard Disk Drive?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I am having trouble reformating my hard drive in Windows. I have gone to my computer and tried to reformat the drive using the Disk management utility, and it pops up and error that says “Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure no window is displaying the contents of the drive”.
So I went snooping around and started deleting files on my own, and I have come across the reason behind my lack of the ability to format. The following files are not allowing me to delete them or reformat my drive (even in safe mode):
Flashutil9C
FlDbg9c.ocx
epilogue.ps
AcroIEhelper.dll
AcroPDF.dll
pdfshell.dll
This is on a secondary partition in which I used to have Windows installed, but I now have it installed on another partiion of my drive.
So is there a way for me to kill any and all processes that use those files, and then be able to reformat my hard drive with out using the OS boot CD?

Laptop Unbootable W/ Volmgr.sys Corrupt. Cannot Reformat Hdd?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Running Vista Home Premium.
-Possibly started when I had several viral attacks. Managed to get most of them, but I still believe I had a couple left due to slow startups, constant hanging, and crashes galore. But when I started the laptop this morning, it took 30 min for volmgr.sys corrupt or missing message to show up.
I had several important files , which I can now not obtain since this problem appears to be rare (via Google Search), but I want a fresh start so I went to grab the installation disk, but when I go to reformat, The “quick” format gives me a error message (I forget what, but I will find out when I get back home) and the “regular” format hasn’t budged from 0% from the last 12 hours, which has basically left me tearing my hair out this morning.
Thoughts? Opinions?
