Hp Media Center – Windows Xp Freezes / Windows Recovery Fails.?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

HP m7680n
HP direct info: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…
Windows XP Media Center (assumed patch 3, but unknown).
2×250GB SATA HDDs in an unknown RAID configuration.
The computer is 2.5-3 years old.
This computer has recently stopped working properly. Windows freezes up shortly after booting. I tried using the windows XP CD to recover the data, but it said something along the lines of HDD failure, and gave me the following error:
Stop: 0×0000007b (0xf78d2524, 0xc0000035, 0×00000000, 0×00000000)
I then attempted logging into windows recovery in safe modem and attempted Windows Recovery from a previous working date from two weeks ago. It gave me the message that an attempt to write ove read-over memory failed refering to win32k.sys. I didn’t take note of the following error code.
I then just attempted to start windows normally but I got the same error with code:
0×000000BE (0xBF801269, 0×13584021, 0xB9D1BA14, 0×0000000C)
Win32k.sys -address BF977557 base at BF800000
If you need any more information, I’d attempt to collect it. The computer is currently running from a Ubuntu LIVE CD. The computer also is not my own. I can assume it’s some type of HDD failure, due to the age and use of no-name HDDs in RAID. I don’t know what informatio is stored on the HDDs, so I don’t intend to reformat unless needed. I simply want to upgrade to Vista, but I don’t have a license to do this with at the moment and I’d rather stay legit on a computer I don’t own. I can’t get any information from the owner of the computer because she is currently hospitialized.

I recently did a disk-clean up and deleted a lot of left over temp. files that I didnt need.
At some point for some reason my Pfcom.DLL file (or whatever it is) is missing.
The one media program I was trying to use wouldnt work because of this. It was suggested to re-install it but it still isn’t working.
Ive restarted my computer a few times and nothing is working. Any help would be great.

How Do I Fix Dll Problems With Ie And Windows Media Player?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

If I were you I would upgrade both of them. There is a new release of Windows Media Player as of yesterday. If you haven’t done so already, upgrade to IE 7.
dll problems occur either because the dll is corrupt (damaged) or it is in conflict with another program that you have installed.
Try the upgrade and go from there.

Windows Media Player Crashing On Wmv Files.?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

For some strange reason recently when I visit a webpage that has a wmv file embeded in it, it causes either WMP or IE to crash. I get this message
The program [“C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe”/OCX/NoLibraryAdd/Pl… “http://www.thewebsiteurl.com/videoname.… caused a problem and is going to close.
I have tried updating IE to 7 and I have updated WMP to 11. Neither works. Also, the player will not play wmv files that I have stored on my computer, but the DiVX player will.
Any help that any of you could give would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Windows Media Player 10 – Setup_wm.exe Error / No Unisntall?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Every time I open up WMP10 it gives me an error with setup_wm.exe. I close it. 15 minutes later it pops up again and subsequently every 15 minutes.
I try uninstalling WMP10 but it gives me the same error with setup_wm.exe and no uninstallation.
I try deleting setup_wm.exe from the WMP10 folder but everytime I open WMP , it creates a new file and the error screen pops up again.
It seems WMP tries to open up setup_wm.exe every once in a while and there’s something wrong with the file. I already trying a brand new installation but the same error happens.
Help, what do I do?

How To Embed Some Wmv Files In A Dll And Play Them On Windows Media Player?

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I have seen html code loaded into web browser by calling certain dlls with special parameters. This I believe are called HTML resource files. Similarly a resource file can be created for almost everytype of windows content. I want to know how it is done and specially can I do it with WMV files? how? and how will I be able to playbact (on media player) the wmv embedded inside a dll as a resource?
