I Need Help With Installing My New Hard Drive Please!!?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I am trying to install my new hard drive, it is blank. My old hard drive had XP on it and I am installing xp on my new drive so I was told I wouldn’t need to flash the BIOS. So when I went to install it, I let my laptop boot from the xp cd and it gets all the way to where I have to decide the NTFS or FAT32 then it comes up with this message:
A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS SHUT DOWN. IF ITS THE FIRST TIME YOU’VE SEEN THIS ERROR RESTART AND DISABLE ANY ANTIVIRUS, DISK DEFRAGMENTATION OR BACKUP UTILITIES. CHECK HARD DRIVE CONFIGUARTION AND CHECK FOR ANY UPDATED DRIVERS. RUN CHKDSK/F TO CHECK FOR HARD DRIVE CORRUPTION AND RESTART.
TECHNICAL INFO:
***STOP: OX00000024 (OX001902FE, OXFBC87664, OXFBC87360, OXFB4533AO)
*** NTFS.SYS-ADDRESS FB4533AO BASE AT FB3F8000, DATESTAMP 4117eea
What does this mean and how do I fix it. I was told once that it might be a format problem and I went on the microsoft support page and found something on the “missing or currupt ntfs.sys” error and tried to (as it said) go to the xp recovery and type in some commands but it went to the same screen.
I had another hard drive and returned it because this same thing happened at the same point.
WHAT DO I DO? HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM? IS IT A BAD HARD DRIVE AND WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? AS I SAID THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED WITH ANOTHER HARD DRIVE I HAD.

Problem With Xp And Phillips External Hard Drive?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

I bought a Phillips external hard drive (Model no: SPD5300CC/96B) from ebay but have noticed that from time to time I will now get the blue screen with the following errors:
win32K.sys, address: BF848D0 baste at BF800000, Datestamp 41107f7a. And today it was:
STOP: 0×00000024 (0×001902FE, 0xF8970A80,0XF897077c, 0×804FFAB5). I have tried to research on the net re: this drive but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I get my computer re-formatted and throw out the phillips external drive and buy another decent one?

If I Reformat My Hard Drive And Run Restore (win. Xp And Office 2003) Will It Reload Clean.dll’s?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Recently I got an error code, an .ocx file occupied an illegal.dll range, reserved for WIn Sys user 32 .dll. The error code says that the application won’t run properly and to contact the original vendor to get a new .dlls. Is the .dll included on the restore disk or is it a separate built in memory somewhere else?

How Do I Recover Data From Ms Outlook On An External Hard Drive?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

My motherboard went out, so I bought a new mobo, ram, etc, but the hard drive is still good. Plugged everything in, and it won’t boot up. I get an error, “System32\drivers\ntfs.sys” is missing or corrupt. I am told that this is something Microsoft does to combat software piracy. That’s fine. I’ve done a fresh install on another drive, and copied all my files over. The only thing I still need to do is get all my information from Outlook. My last PST backup was in December, so that’s useless. If there was a way to open Outlook on this drive, and make a backup, all would be fine – any ideas?

Error When Installing Windows On New Hard Drive?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I got my new hard drive and too my old 40 gb IDE hard dirve out. I put my new 160 gb WD 7K 8M SATA2 in. I put my win 98 bootdisk in the cd drive. Go through the formatt processes and everything then i get all the way until it says windows will now resart your computer. Well when it does I see the win 98 logo for about half a second then this message comes up
“Insufficient memory to initialize windows”
“Quit one or more memory resident programs or remove unneccessary utilities from CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files and restart your computer.”
What the heck does that mean and what do i do to get my new hard drive running windows thanks for all the help.

Lsass.exe Slave Hard Drive Communication Error?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I recently re-installed windows XP on my PC, and since then I’ve been getting a problem where suddenly programs will stop opening or closing, but the ones open still run ok. It won’t let me do anything, even run rask manager or shut down the PC. Sometimes I’d get a message saying lsass.exe error and then a 60 second countdown until my PC restarts. I’ve figured out it seems to happen when I access files on my secondary hard drive, installed after I bought the PC. Could this be a problem with BIOS settings or maybe some driver I need?
