How Can I Stop Ccsvchst.exe Error Message Happening When I Shut Down My Computer?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I run Windows XP Home edition with service pack 3, IE7 and Norton Internet Security 2007 upgrade.
I recently had to reinstall Norton(having used their removal tool first) but now notice that at shutdown I get CcSvcHst.exe Application Error followed by ‘The memory at etc.etc.. Microsoft help and support say it is a Symantec problem but their website finds no reference to the problem.
I had this problem before with Windows service pack 2 & NIS 2005 but cannot remember what the outcome was. Can anyone help?

Strange Things Happening In Windows – Socketxctl? Can Someone Please Help?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I’m currently running Windows XP SP2 and on startup I get the message “Failed to load socketXctl from socket.ocx. Version of socket.ocx may be outdated.” I started getting this message after installing the latest version of Winzip, which I downloaded from the parent site. I was told that this error message was caused by a virus, and I should use regedit to remove the bad DSS file from the registry by searching in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\wi… version\run (or something like that). I located the folder in question, but can find no DSS file like the one mentioned. This is really irritating, and Microsoft won’t help for less than $400. The only info I can find relates to Windows Vista, which I don’t have, and the tech forums seem to be clueless. Can someone please help?

I Get An Error … Could Not Find The File “flash.ocx”. Can Anyone Tell Me Why And How To Stop This Happening?

http://www.afreeocx.com/ocx/download/286…

download the above file and register it with these steps
1.Hold down the shift key and right click on the file. Then click ‘Open With…’ from the menu.
2.An ‘Open With’ dialog box should appear. Click the button ‘Other…’.
3.Navigate to your windows\system32 directory and select the file ‘RegSvr32.exe’. Do a file search for it if you have trouble locating the exact folder. On Windows 2000 it is typically located in c:\WINNT\System32. Click Open to select the file. Then click OK on the ‘Open With’ dialog.
4.You should see a message indicating the file was successfully registered. If you see an error message, try restarting your computer and going through the above process again.
