of the above file is missing or corrupt. What is this? and how do i reinstall windows xp. i put the disk in and the message above is still there.

I tried to start in safe mode, don’t work. I woul like to know also how to make with my other computer a bootable disk for my window xp so I could restart my laptop, but then I saw on the internet that it is’nt so easy. Please help

The computer will not start in any mode. Will I have to reinstall Windows? I am running XP Pro. If I reinstall Windows, what will happen to the programs already in the computer? Why did this file disappear? I have the file on a floppy from another computer.
