The laptop is running Windows 98. I removed the 8 MB module and installed the 64 MB module. I’m getting an error that reads “HIMEM.SYS has detected unreliable XMS memory.” How do I correct this error?
Thanks!

Need Some Insight From Experienced Comp Users?
Sunday, December 13th, 2009I have a custom built computer with the following applicable specs:
- 2.3ghz AMD dual core processor
- 4GB of DDR2 800mhz RAM
- Nvidia 8800GTS
- Windows XP Service Pack 2
I recently have been having a blue screen error that I nor my boyfriend can figure out. Upon starting up the computer, everything will load, Windows will start, it goes to the Welcome screen and then blue screens. The blue screen only flashes for an instant and the computer reboots. It will do this over and over again. Sometimes, if I let it go, it will eventually start up. Of course, the “critical error in Windows” message will come up. When checking the data for the error, it states:
dcom 10005 system service control manager, 7001, service control manager 7026
Also, it states that the error occurred in sptd.sys (and the file has been dumped)
I did research on sptd and found that it is a system file for Daemon Tools. I’ve never downloaded Daemon Tools nor ever had it on my computer. Also, we tried doing a system restore to 3 weeks ago, it still blue screens. I installed 2 more GB of RAM (to bring it to 4GB) a few weeks ago but even after taking the new sticks out, it still blue screens.
Also, I reset the computer to default settings in the BIOS as a last ditch effort. Still no dice.
I can’t figure out the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

How To Recover Data From A Non-bootable Hdd?
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009Hello, so while testing a firewire harddrive out(Ironically enough) the main hard drive crashed(Looks like a worm). So, after doing a diagnostic from the BIOS and finding CRAP skittered all over the disk(As in… ERROR THIS AND THIS IS BAD)… i said to myself, big deal, meet my XP install disk!
The csrss.sys file is not able to be replaced by the XP disk and it looks like some windows media 9 .exe file is corrupted too.
The computer boots through BIOS, and then starts the windows loading page with the bar moving and all and then it crashes at the same time on the same file every time(Strange: Its not the csrss.sys file either).
BASICALLY a new harddrive that fits that is 80 or 120 GB is not that expensive, so I will install a new harddrive, load XP, tadaa!! But now what… how would i go about setting up the other drive as a slave or whatnot, do i put it in the HDD2 slot and then set it as a slave in the bios? Is it easy drag/drop interface after that? thanks a bunch !
