HP m7680n
HP direct info: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…
Windows XP Media Center (assumed patch 3, but unknown).
2×250GB SATA HDDs in an unknown RAID configuration.
The computer is 2.5-3 years old.
This computer has recently stopped working properly. Windows freezes up shortly after booting. I tried using the windows XP CD to recover the data, but it said something along the lines of HDD failure, and gave me the following error:
Stop: 0×0000007b (0xf78d2524, 0xc0000035, 0×00000000, 0×00000000)
I then attempted logging into windows recovery in safe modem and attempted Windows Recovery from a previous working date from two weeks ago. It gave me the message that an attempt to write ove read-over memory failed refering to win32k.sys. I didn’t take note of the following error code.
I then just attempted to start windows normally but I got the same error with code:
0×000000BE (0xBF801269, 0×13584021, 0xB9D1BA14, 0×0000000C)
Win32k.sys -address BF977557 base at BF800000
If you need any more information, I’d attempt to collect it. The computer is currently running from a Ubuntu LIVE CD. The computer also is not my own. I can assume it’s some type of HDD failure, due to the age and use of no-name HDDs in RAID. I don’t know what informatio is stored on the HDDs, so I don’t intend to reformat unless needed. I simply want to upgrade to Vista, but I don’t have a license to do this with at the moment and I’d rather stay legit on a computer I don’t own. I can’t get any information from the owner of the computer because she is currently hospitialized.

Computer Freezes All Of A Sudden And I Get This Pop Up?
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009The screen turns blue and the following message shows up:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: srescan.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select safe mode.

Computer Freezes On Crcdisk.sys After Vista Update?
Saturday, September 26th, 2009I recently built my computer and it was working perfectly until an automatic vista update installed itself. I rebooted, and the entire computer froze on the green bar. I tried safe mode and it freezes at crcdisk.sys. I can’t even do a format b/c it freezes even if I try to boot with the dvd, nor can I access command prompt. I’ve tried moving the RAM around, switching hard drives, disabling some PCI cards etc etc. nothing is working. Even trying to install xp or linux yields same error. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP MEEEEEE
Oblivion Freezes?
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009I’ve had the game Oblivion for PC for quite a long time now, but suddenly a week ago the game started freezing exactly after 3 minutes of normal gamestart. Also i’ve noticed that the music of the main menu screen no longer plays at gamestart.
This game played well, but here r my specs: I have 3.4GHZ P4, Geforce 7300 512MB, 1024 RAM.
-I tried as they said on their website, turn off all background HP programs, no use.
-I tried to rename a file they said it might be the cause, no use.
Just a PS: I added 2 files to the system registry some time ago (activeskin.ocx & Zerofile.dll) but i removed them 2 days ago. the problem still persists.
Is the problem related to those 2 files? did i remove them in a wrong manner? I used safe mode as usual..
Any help is appreciated.
Lsass.exe Error During Boot On Xp System. Startup Freezes, Wont Finish Startup, Safe Mode Shows Black Screen?
Wednesday, August 26th, 2009Help! While booting, our other computer shows an error that says something about lsass.exe and the whole thing freezes. I’ve tried booting in safe mode, all I get is the words ’safe mode’ in all four corners and a black screen. I have Avast but I can’t get the system up long enough to get it onto the network and let my other computer scan it. It will let me get into DOS but I’m not sure what to look for to get it running from there. Is there a startup CD I can find for XP? It was preinstalled and warranty is out so I dont have a seperate cd, I REALLY need to try and save this system as intact as possible. I realize I’ve got a virus/worm etc. so if anyone has ideas I’d be eternally greatful!!! Thanks all!
