The path is C:\windows\systems32\byvwx.dll. MY antivirus located the virus but it can not clean it and I can not delete it through my computer. Can anyone help me?

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009Okay, so a friend of mine somehow messed up his computer… bad while trying to fix it after a virus hit.
When the computer is turned on it has the option to Boot either XP or XP Setup. It will auto attempt to run setup by default without a disk and get an error atapi.sys is corrupt.
If you go to XP start up it won’t let him insert his password to log in, we assume because of the virus. So logging in is impossible.
So, he has decided to cut his losses (he backs up everything) and format his computer.
The problem is that his computer won’t boot from CD, even after changing the BIOS to boot from CD before the HDD.
It has been ages, but I know there was a way to format the computer w/o a startup disk from start up using one of the F keys and c:/format ntfs (or something like that?) once it his a DOS-type screen.
Does anyone know how to do this, or how to go about formatting this PC?

Saturday, July 25th, 2009There is a CCTV camera at work. All videos are recorded in about 20 or 30 second intervals and saved on the hard drive. I copied a few minutes of footage onto a memory stick in order to watch it at home. At home, when I go to view it, it states that windows does not recognize the program. I have tried opening it in other programs and have searched the forums to no avail. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.
