Monday, September 21st, 2009i’ve just installed mcafee internet security on one of my laptops operating vista os, and since the installation was completed the laptop has been going crazy. upon start up after windows load, in less than 2 minutes the desktop will disappear and an error message pops up: Explorer.exe Application Error – “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.” A message appears stating “You are about to be logged off. Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute.” Then it shuts down and restart. This continuously happens repeatedly and i can’t do anything. I tried to uninstall the mcafee, do a system restore…but the errors/messages pop up before i can actually do something. how can i stop this? please HELP!!!!

Thursday, September 10th, 2009on my old hard drive with Windows ME installed on it, everytime i boot the computer and get to the log in dialog, it gives me the following error: “Explorer.exe has caused an error in SHLWAPI.DLL.” this is part of the Windows Shell, so i know it is serious.
any help?
Explorer.exe Error No Desktop?
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009Everytime I logon to my account from the logon page, I get an explorer.exe error and all I can see is my desktop wallpaper. I’m forced to hit alt+ctrl+delete and disconnect and logoff the user, then restart, everytime! I have run AVG Antivirus, Housecall, Ewido Antispyware (I have a paid subscription), Adaware, Registry Repair Wizard, removed 2 problems programs, removed an update that may have caused an issue, and checked files in the regedit function. I’m going crazy!!! No one seems to know what I should do. Some tell me to check my hardware, others to run a virus scan. I have run everything, including sfc /scannow.
I just want to cry. A year or two ago I didn’t update a driver and my computer crashed, so I lost everything. I just am at a loss of what to do atm. Someone PLEASE help me
