I get this error message (blue screen) about a file called sndp202.sys missing/corrupted when I try to boot up to Windows XP Home. It also says “DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PEND… It sounds to me like a file got accidentally deleted or something on my hard drive stopped working. Could anyone tell me how to fix this or at least how this happened?

It just goes to an error screen with that message. The keyboard works but the mouse does not. Any thought or advice on how to correct this problem. Thanks!

Alright, I was instailing updates, when they finished my laptop automaticly restarted, and I got this message
File :ntoskrnl.exe
Status : 0×0000098
Info :Windows failed to load because a required file is missing
,or corrupt.
I tried starting it in safe mode, but it won’t let me that message still pops up no matter what I do. (I tried safe mode with and without networking)
I don’t have the disk that the computer is asking me to put in, I got this laptop from my cousin and he said he threw the disk away.
Is there any way I can repair this without the CD? I don’t mind if it means losing everything, (I back school papers, pictures etc up on flash drives anyways) I just want it to work again.

I read I should boot up in safe mode by hitting F8. Well when I do it again tries to boot up windows but ends back at black screen with that same error message box. Can someone help me? I need simple instructions, perhaps step by step. I’m not very computer savvy but not an idiot either, I can follow instructions. Please any help would be appreciated, I’m hoping not to have to take my laptop to a professional because I cannot afford that and I don’t want to lose everything I have on it. Also, I do not have the windows XP cd.

Then it says, “The header checksum does not match the compued checksum.” Do I have to get full system software and start from scratch?
