My laptop was bought with windows vista on it. I put a partition on it with windows XP. I am having a problem with my audio device on XP. My sigmatel HD audio codec is not working properly. at the moment I am getting an error message saying; “the file “stwrt.sys” on Sigmatel HD Audio Wave RT Disk is needed”. The audio still works on my vista partition so the hardware is fine. I need a driver for the hardware to work on XP and have been unsuccessful on any attempt to find it on the web. Any Help?

Anyone else with these problems?
I think I have other drivers also not installed so I basically went and installed some I had but like it wants me to restart which I don’t want since its gonna take forever to start up again…
My main problem is my computer freezes for no reason and goes all weird and then I am forced to shut it down, and in that state it goes berserk and removes my driver and I want to know if there’s anything else…
and if anyone knows why… I just get this blue error (bsod) screen pointing to nvstor.sys but I searched online and nothing comes up, no one has a solution.

Audio Driver Problem?

Well I’m having problems like a lot of the other people .
Basically, I have and intel motherboard with a built in sound card. It is an ac97 card.
When I go to install the driver, my computer crashes and restarts, and I tried to install the driver again and it gave me this blue screen saying portcls.sys has some error, beginning physical memory dump. EVERY time I try to install the driver it does that.
Is there something wrong with portcls.sys on my system, or the drivers I’ve tried…?

I got this message yesterday and today every time I boot up:

Svchost.exe-Application Error. The exception unknown software exception(0×0000409) at location 0×5b86a3c0.
Once this error message will occur, the audio will no longer be working. any media player will not work. the volume control can no longer be opened. the audio properties will be affected.
