I accidentally formatted the special recovery partition in my hard disk (HP Pavilion 7955) and the only method to recover is to run the System Recovery program from the CD which I do not have.
Specifically, I have Windows XP (SP2 installed). My HP will boot or run Windows XP only after I uninstalled the added internal harddisk drive. I verified that my speciall recovery partition has been reformatted; internal systems and application recovery files are defunct; and system restore points gone. Yet, I can create new restore points.
If I connect my internal harddisk drive, I cannot boot and boot-disks do not work. I think I toasted a driver. I can get F1 and I get ‘…config.sys….error line 15…’ and other DOS line messages.
I am surprised the Windows XP boots up. No recovery disk came with HP Pavilion. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I hate to buy from HP when there is free help in YAHOO! land. Any help you give will be greatly appreciated!
