My (Windows XP Professional) PC recently crashed. I went to reboot it and it got hung up with the blue screen and the whole 9. It was doing that thing where it just keeps restarting to a black screen with options like 1. Start Windows in Safe mode 2. Start from last know configuration etc. I tried everything and it just wouldn’t get past that screen. Suddenly it actually booted into Safe Mode (with no networking), hense no internet access. I was finally able to read the error message on the blue screen which was saying that file klif.sys was corrupted and causing the problems. I searched high and low (via internet forums on my mac laptop) to find a way to fix the problem. A few forums said to remove Kaspersky and files: kl1.sys, klick.sys, klin.sys, klop.sys and klif.sys from the c:\windows\system32\drivers folder, which I did. Now my PC and my network are working but my PC wont connect to the internet. My Local Area Connection shows “connected” but my PC wont connect to the net HELP!!

It might be your internet connection you are not getting full signal. type ipconfig on command to check if the modem is connected to the computer. Try reinstalling your internet modem with the cd it came with, if that doesn’t work you may have a software issue and you might need to reinstal the operating system I would reinstall if I were you that way you start from the beginning.
Backup your files on another drive or external drive….time for you to do a reformatting and install XP again.
That would be the easiest way to go and take the shortest time. Not the right solution, but the easier solution.
as long as important stuff are backed up…why not reinstall everything and get thigns clean and system up runing fast.
