Help! Sound Card Issues.?

I’ve just downloaded the Dell 1501 Sigmatel sound driver for XP SP2, and it tells me, after I’ve unzipped it, “Exit error: error: Device Object not present. Please restart system and try again.”
But I’ve restarted four times. Please help?

SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio
    Version: 5.10.0.5515_RC22-WHQL, A11
    Download from dell:http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g…
    Installation Instructions
    1. Double-click the new icon on the desktop. For example labeled R12345.EXE.
    2. The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:DELLDRIVERSR12345.EXE. (Example path). Write down this path so the executable (Example – Setup.exe) file can be found later.
    3. The Self-Extractor window appears.
    4. Click OK.
    5. After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it.
    6. Click the Start button and then click Run.
    7. Type C:DELLDRIVERSR12345 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
    8. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager.Go to sound and game controllers and see if anything from sigmatel is listed. If there is, right click it and click uninstall, restart your computer and let windows reinstall for you. Then try installing the driver you have again. If there is nothing saying sigmatel there then your sound card is messed up or bad.The only way you will be able to find that out is by finding out the mother board on the computer.Download this and install it.It will tell you what you need to know on the first page at the very top beside where it says mainboard. If the first things I said don’t work or there is no sigmatel in device manager, email me and tell me exactly what it says beside mainboard and I’ll see what I can find for you.http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php
