The blue screen of death shows up when the computer gets to shut down. How do I get rid of the screen and make my computer actually shut down.
It talks about how Windows is shutting down to prevent damage.

Check if you installing hardware is correct. It the problem persists disable/remove the newly installed hardware.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0×000000D1 (0×00000024, 0X00000002, 0×00000000, 0xB8E8739E)
*** ALITHCI.sys – Address B8E8739E base at B8E85000, Datestamp 3f658351
The reason why it was talking about the hardware is because I was putting in a new power supply. After it failed, I put back the original one in and its started show the blue screen of death, above.
I AGREE THAT YOU PROBABLY HAVE A HARDWARE PROBLEM. REMOVE ALL YOUR CARDS, CDs AND DVD -PLAYERS/RECORDERS, FLOPPY DRIVES AND HARD DRIVES. BOOT UP WITH 1 MEMORY STICK AT A TIME. KEEP ADDING ITEMS UNTIL YOU FIND THE BAD APPLE. IF ITS THE MOTHERBOARD BUY A NEW ONE. IF ITS THE HD, REFORMAT AND REINSTALL ALL. GOOD LUCK. CHECK FOR A BAD GROUND ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD (LOOSE SCREWS).

as far as I know ALITHCI.sys is not a windows file of any nature
I have no idea what it goes to
you may want to revert to an older backup or reinstall windows
the pwersupply may have messed something up
If you have another harddrive (something small) reinstall the OS making it the Master and the current a slave (so you can access your old stuff later).
MS can be funny but that should fix your problem pretty quickly and give you access to the stuff you haven’t lost by turning it off and on.
Sounds like something isn’t installed correctly. There isn’t normally problems with the power supply. It either works or it doesn’t. Check any other hardware on your PC that requires power from the power supply. It may be a sound or video card, model, network or anything else.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL hey?
It really sounds like a RAM problem to me. Take a stick out, and try a shutdown, and then switch, to test. But really, sounds like a RAM problem.

check your power line whether it is a right socket which goes into your floppy drive.
If you don;t have a floppy drive then just leave it.
You can take memory sticks out and re-insert them.
If you still have a problem then contact me.
