Audio Controller Problem?

Well I’m having problems like a lot of the other people .
Basically, I have and intel motherboard with a built in sound card. It is an ac97 card.
When I go to install the driver, my computer crashes and restarts, and I tried to install the driver again and it gave me this blue screen saying portcls.sys has some error, beginning physical memory dump. EVERY time I try to install the driver it does that.
Is there something wrong with portcls.sys on my system, or the drivers I’ve tried…?

make sure that the Motherboard your are using is under warranty or guarantee, if under warranty you can replace or repair your board since there is problem with only with AUDIO on Motherboard, But you can also use any third party Audio Card on this Board.
Finally AC97 Audion which is integrated on the motherboard is not working or may be damage and having problem so Blue Screen appears again during Audio Driver Installation since Blue Screen means that there is hardware problem with your computer.

Did you go from an earlier version of Windows to a later one? I ask because I once saw that an integrated dial-up modem that would work under Windows Me had serious problems under XP.
The last time I checked, an entry-level PCI sound card from Creative was around $30, and an external USB audio device was around $50, but prices may vary from store to store. There should be a way to tell Windows not to use the built-in audio and to use a different audio device instead.
