Flash9d.ocx Problem With Yahoo Mail – Started Today?
So far through my tests, it has something to do with the chat tool in the new mail. You can cancel the chat from starting and continue to use the mail until it gets fixed.

I was experiencing this problem earlier today and started watching this thread.
I noticed that it was causing the error when trying to log into chat because if I set myself to offline the problem didn’t occur.
I didn’t run any registry cleaners, or do any renaming or anything like that and it appears that Yahoo was notified and has fixed the problem since I am now .
I can now log into chat on the yahoo mail page and all is good.

I’m having a problem too. My page has shut down 5 times. I hope they fix it soon.
I am having the exact same error, which also started just today. Yesterday Yahoo Mail was working fine. I am also looking for answers on whether or not it’s a temporary glitch that Yahoo is aware of and working on. I don’t know if they are though.
In the meantime, I switched back to Yahoo Classic mail and so far it seems ok. I’m certain it has something to do with a problem they are having in the interface of the “new” version of Yahoo Mail. I hope they fix it soon.

went to the adobe site and went to support then to flash player
i then typed in the error and then a resolution came up. it seemed to help me, so maybe it will help you.
PS don’t type in the ? marks when making the change.
I switched back to classic Yahoo mail and all is OK now, no more problem with flash9d.ocx. But if Yahoo messenger is on or loggeg in, the beta version Yahoo mail works well, and if Messenger is out or logged out, I have a problem with flash9d.ocx.
i am having the same issue just starting today! try disabling chat or just use the old yahoo mail version until they fix it.
I’ve also been having the same problem, just starting today. From the research I’ve done, it appears that the Chat function in the new Yahoo! mail uses flash to run. Apparently there are BIG problems between the new Adobe Flash v9 and Internet Explorer 7. Why this just seemed to be a problem today after it’s been fine is beyond me. Unfortunately I’m not a techie! But I’m getting the same shut down/error/flash code when I go to other spaces that run flash such as MySpace or YouTube. I like using Chat so I hope this is fixed soon! Most of the forums have been saying that this is an Adobe flash issue… not an internet explorer or Yahoo issue.
Just thought I’d throw that out there!
I had the same problem with IE / Yahoo mail shutting down. After renaming didn’t work, I ran the CCCleaner from Piriform (free). I ran the Cleaner then the Registry check, which looks for reg issues. Apparently, someone uninstalled something that affected the flash player because there were like 50 missing keys with the Yahoo name attached. After all this, IE and Yahoo work fine now. It took about 3 minutes. I hope it works for you.
