hey…this is mostly like a virus infection as the system file listed is system32″hal”.dll…is an invalid system file as i wasnt able to track this file on the windows file system. the system32.dll is an explicit system file that is needed to boot up the system..
ok since you have raised about questions on the same..i ll give you a quick solution. For this you ll need to explore the possibility of using a friend’s pc to do a quick recovery.. .1st thing’s first.we need to secure your data..for that unplug your HDD and link it to someone’s pc which is actually working…back up ur data there..that way you ll save your data and then you can reformat the drive where you got the problem and copy the data back on the same drive.
The solution of using a flash ( in the sense EXTERNAL/INTERNAL ALL ON HARD DRIVE) is not the best solution as the flash drive would not be recognized by windows during a start up..that would cause a problem..so you cant really reinstall the new OS anyway..!
    Hope this helps.

    Yea,
It looks like somehow, Vista lost important data it needs to load up everything onto the computer. From what i’ve studied and herd, Dell computers are very infamous for that issue. You need to Reinstall Vista onto the laptop. Now, You don;t need to buy a set of recovery disk’s yet. Computers now a day have a part in there hard drives called a partition. It has EVERYTHING it needs to reinstall the O.S. Call Dell and ask them how to access that. On my Compaq Presario CQ50Z, I just pressed F11 just when the notebook turns on and it starts the recovery. I dunno whats the command in your case.
    Good luck

yes it would but if you would still like to keep ur data
    then do this
get a flash drive and install another os on it (the same vista tht u have on ur other drive) and then after u install the new os on to the flash drive copy the system32hal.dll from th to ur vista directory and it will boot up nand then from ther on o a virus scan and spyware scan

    Yes it will.
You should try the vista repair option first. That option comes up in the early stages of the install process. Look out for the word “repair” in the first couple of screens.
You could even borrow someone elses Vista install disk to do this.

you most likely got a virus or trojan in there make sure to clean the comp up first then re install vista… i recomend gettin rid of vista all together, i hate that op system it sucks.

  6. Chancell says:

Most likely it will solve the problem. Your system has lost a file that will be reinstalled when you use your reinstall cd.

Yes. Repair your OS to recover the missing/corrupted files.
