Windows Could Not Start Because Of This Message: \systems 32 \ Hal.dll. Please Re-install A Copy?
of the above file is missing or corrupt. What is this? and how do i reinstall windows xp. i put the disk in and the message above is still there.

I suspect that hal.dll is a library that helps Microsoft Windows to communicate with the computer’s hardware (HAL stands for “Hardware Abstraction Layer”).
Usually if you put in your WinXP disk and reboot you should be given the opportunity to ‘boot’ from your CD/DVD drive and reinstall or repair Windows XP. If you are finding that this is not the case, and your CD is not damaged, AND your CD/DVD drive is good, AND you don’t have a virus, then it might be a case of editing your BIOS settings and changing the boot order of your drives. Sorry…how to do this will vary somewhat from computer to computer so I can’t really explain how to do that, though rest assured there is a setting that will allow you to do this.
