I was browsing the internet and I was just looking at a post and all the sudden my computer froze up and these pop ups from the xp kept popping up and I couldn’t do anything. Its probably a virus but I restarted the computer but I keep getting this blue screen even in safe mode. Is there a way to save the system and return it to the way it was without having the wipe the harddrive clean?
The Blue Screen says:”
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again (which is does; safe mode or not) , follow these steps.
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adaptors.
Check with your hardware vendor for an BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode. (already did – nothing)

My Computer Crashed And It Keeps Loading This Blue Screen?
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010Need Desperate Computer Help Please.?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I would first like to start off by saying that I’m only fourteen and I’m not too technically savvy. So I ask that if you are going to help me and give me a solution to my problem, that you be descriptive and clear so I can understand it.
I have a three-year-old Sony Vaio desktop that I’ve had for about a year now. It was given to me by a friend of my brother and since I’ve gotten it, it’s always ran kind of sluggish. But it worked and I could do everything on it so I thought nothing of it.
Starting in mid-July, I would occasionally get a BSOD error when I would start up my computer. All I had to do was restart and it would work fine; but the errors kept becoming more frequent and seemed to occur in a pattern.
The BSODs stopped in September (That’s when I started school and wasn’t on my computer as often) but recently began again. Now my computer won’t even start up anymore and all I get is the same BSOD no matter what I do. I can’t even boot it up in Safe Mode.
This is what I managed to remember from the blue screen:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0×0000000D1
And after attempting to boot it up a few times, the text ‘NDIS.SYS’ appeared towards the bottom along with other numbers and stuff.
Can anyone help me out and give a diagnosis/solution for my problem? And please don’t give me download links for any diagnosis programs because I obviously can’t get it on my computer.
Thank you so very for your help.
How Do I Move My Linux Hard Drive To Another Machine?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I have Fedora 10 installed on a 2 CPU machine and want to move it to a different 1 CPU machine.
Here is my grub.conf file: (from the SMP machine)
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=0
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

initrd /initrd-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686.img
HERE IS MY /etc/fstab: (from the SMP machine)
# /etc/fstab
# Created by anaconda on Wed Jan 7 23:05:18 2009
#
# Accessible filesystems, by reference, are maintained under ‘/dev/disk’
# See man pages fstab(5), findfs(8), mount(8) and/or vol_id(8) for more info
#
UUID=5dc7b756-abdb-48a0-a679-d3c8d23ac… / ext3 defaults 1 1

proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
UUID=dc2bac35-8368-4f3a-a934-7b0c0035c… swap swap defaults 0 0
Here’s what I tried to do.
1. swap hard disk with the Fedora 10 OS from the 2 (SMP) CPU machine into the 1 CPU machine.
2. Use the fc10 CD to “Rescue Installed System.”
3. chroot /mnt/sysimage
4. mount /boot
5. uname -r gives me this output: 2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i586
6. mkinitrd /boot/test.img 2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i586
7. I edit grub so that I change default from 0 to 2. Timeout from 0 to 10. I place third entry at the bottom (I could have put it at the top and kept default=0 instead of 2). How would I write that entry correctly. I think I’m messing up the grub.conf perhaps. The UUID numbers are confusing me. Which fstab UUID entry do I use in grub.conf? All help is appreciated. When I do the above as best I could and I select the i586 to boot in the new machine it just says error: file not found. If I try to boot from either of the i686 options it begins to boot but has a stabilization error. Wait 10 seconds then freezes. What file is not found with the i586? Thanks in advance.
Tech Support Jokes : Very Funny !?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I worked for DELL in India.
these are some of the instances of the kind of calls we got!
Just for fun ![]()
1). Tech Support: “I need you to right-click on the Open Desktop.”
Customer “Ok.”
Tech Support: “Did you get a pop-up menu?”
Customer: “No.”
Tech Support: “Ok. Right click again. Do you see a pop-up menu?”
Customer “No.”
Tech Support:: “Ok, sir. Can you tell me what you have done up until
this point?”
Customer: “Sure, you told me to write ‘click’ and I wrote ‘click’.”
2) Customer: “I received the software update you sent,but I am still
getting the same error message.”
Tech Support:: “Did you install the update?”
Customer: “No. Oh, am I supposed to install it to get it to work?”
3).Customer:: “I’m having trouble installing Microsoft Word.”
Tech Support:: “Tell me what you’ve done.”
Customer: “I typed ‘A:SETUP’.”!
Tech Support:: “Ma’am, remove the disk and tell me what it says.”
Customer:: “It says ‘[PC manufacturer] Restore and Recovery disk’.”
Tech Support:: “Insert the MS Word setup disk.”
Customer:: “What?”
Tech Support: “Did you buy MS word?”
Customer: “No…”
4).Customer:: “Do I need a computer to use your software?”
Tech Support:: ?!%#$
5).Tech Support:: “Ok, in the bottom left hand side of the screen,canyou see the ‘OK’ button displayed?”
Customer: “Wow. How can you see my screen from there?”
6) Tech Support:: “What type of computer do you have?”
Customer:: “A white one.”
7). Tech Support:: “Type ‘A:’ at the prompt.”
Customer:: “How do you spell that?”
8). Tech Support: “What’s on your screen right now?”
Customer: “A stuffed animal that my boyfriend got me at the grocerystore.”
9). Tech Support:: “What operating system are you running?”
Customer: “Pentium.”
10). Customer: “My computer’s telling me I performed an illegal abortion.”
11).Customer: “I have Microsoft Exploder.”
12).Customer: “How do I print my voicemail?
13). Customer: “You’ve got to fix my computer. I urgently need to print document, but the computer won’t boot properly.”
Tech Support: “What does it say?”
Customer: “Something about an error and non-system disk.”
Tech Support: “Look at your machine. Is there a floppy inside?”
Customer: “No, but there’s a sticker saying there’s an Intel inside.”
14). Tech Support: “Just call us back if there’s a problem. We’re open 24 hours.”
Customer: “Is that Eastern time?”
15). Tech Support:: “What does the screen say now?”
Customer: “It says, ‘Hit ENTER when ready’.”
Tech Support:: “Well?”
Customer: “How do I know when it’s ready?”
16). A plain computer illeterate guy rings tech support to report that his computer is faulty.
Tech: What’s the problem?
User: There is smoke coming out of the power supply.
Tech: You’ll need a new power supply.
User: No, I don’t! I just need to change the startup files.
Tech: Sir, the power supply is faulty. You’ll need to replace it.
User: No way! Someone told me that I just needed to change the startup and it will fix the problem! All I need is for you to tell me the
command.
10 minutes later, the User is still adamant that he is right. The tech is frustrated and fed up.
Tech: Sorry, Sir. We don’t normally tell our customers this, but there is an undocumented DOS command that will fix the problem.
User: I knew it!
Tech: Just add the line LOAD NOSMOKE.COM at the end of the CONFIG.SYS.
Letme know how it goes.
10 minutes later.
User: It didn’t work. The power supply is still smoking.
Tech: Well, what version of DOS are you using?
User: MS-DOS 6.22.
Tech: That’s your problem there. That version of DOS didn’t come with NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft and ask them for a patch that will give you ! the file. Let me know how it goes.
1 hour later.
User: I need a new power supply.
Tech: How did you come to that conclusion?
User: Well, I rang Microsoft and told him about what you said, and he started asking questions about the make of power supply.
Tech: Then what did he say?
User: He told me that my power supply isn’t compatible with NOSMOKE
Why Wont My Myspace Page Load Properly?
Monday, February 22nd, 2010For the past few days Myspace doesn’t load properly. All the links that are usually across the top of the page are all the way down the left margin, text overlaps, and all the images appear as little boxes with red x’s in them. It’s only like this on Internet explorer. It works fine on the AOL browser. I uninstalled IE8 and it’s the same problem with IE7, so I put IE8 back again. I checked all my add ons, and everything is updated. I tried to restore back to 4 days ago when the problem ocurred, but since I’m running Vista, it wont let me restore that far back in time. When I click on the exclamation point in the bottom left corner that says “error on page”, this is what the message tells me:

My Computer Was On During A Power Outage And When I Turned It Back On It Wasn’t The Same…?
Monday, February 22nd, 2010During the outage the power went off for about 3 seconds on for about 1 second and off for about 30 minutes, this happened when my computer was on. When the power came back up I turned on the computer and everything loaded well but when I tried to open Firefox it said there was an error. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but it still didn’t work. The next day when I turned my computer on more error messages occurred. Not only did Firefox not work but Internet Explorer doesn’t either, in fact most of my programs couldn’t run! Including my games like Halo 2, and Age of Empires III. When turning on the computer I keep getting LogonUIexe_Bad Image and C:\Windows\sysyem32\rtutlis.dll, WFWIZ_vistaexe_Bad Image, C:\Windows\system32\avicap32.dll just to name a few. I ran a virus scan but that didn’t help and now when I click on my start menu it won’t open. It’s at the point where almost nothing

Web Searches Redirected!?
Saturday, February 20th, 2010Okay, so I’m pretty certain that I’ve downloaded a virus or Trojan or something that is making some of my web searches useless, as the pages that open are ad sites and not the pages I am requesting.
I purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus which gives me an error message that I must enable protection in order to run a scan, but protection is enabled. The little V is also grayed-out on toolbar. Personally I found it to be useless.
I purchased XoftSpySE and it found several suspicious definitions which I deleted. Problem persists.
I downloaded RegRun Security Suite (which I really like) and it found a c0ff290b.sys and an nDler file on my PC which I quarantined then x’neyed. Problem persists although not every time I search now, and PC is a little faster for a while, and then after about 30 minutes it bogs down again. RegRun now tells me it is clean though.
D/L’d Windows Defender and it gave me a couple of error messages at installation (I just think the bugger knows I’m after it) and then it told me it could not update definitions, after which I manually d/l’d and installed them. Ran a check, and it tells me I have no viruses.
Ummmm … but there is definitely SOMETHING wrong.
Does anyone have any clue?
!… THANKS …!
