Vb Programmers – How To Lock Cd Rom Drive?

Hi people, Im currently programming in VB6 (not .net unfortunately)
Im making a security programme which basically dissables a lot of windows stuff that makes it vunreble in public use.
IE: Access to hard drives, control panel, so on so forth
Im looking for 2 things as I have done the majority of it my self now.
a) How to lock the CD rom drive doors from opening (and if possible an answer for detecting multiple CD rom drives and locking them)
b) Disable Delete File, Move File, Rename File
If you know a registry value which does this please let me know so that I can start scripting it right away. If there is no registry value con you supply the code with explanations on how it works so that I can learn how to use it or a link to a website as all I get is “Download” software already made for users who want to disable the drive.
(You can post a link to an OCX but id much preffer to learn how its done my self than to leach of some one elses code)

Swf Files Don’t Work?

these SWF file games i have aren’t working. i know the whole deal with opening with the internet but that doesn’t work it comes up with a blank screen. i tried downloading a swf player but it does the same thing but it says “access violation at address 0262CEBF in module swfalsh.ocx. read of address 00000000.” The games used to work the other day and i used them all the time. the only thing that i could have done is install this “interactual player” that came on a dvd. i tried opening the SWFs with it but it couldn’t play them. i uninstalled interactual and the SWFs still don’t play. i can’t think of anything else i could have done to make them stop working plz help!

Flash Player 9 Problem?

yes yes, I know everyone has these and it’s common, but I’ve tried everything.
So I was doing this thing for school that said I needed to install Flash. Of course I knew I already had flash so I thought they meant a newer version or something. So I try to install it and I guess in the process of installing it, Flash 9 removed whatever version I had, but the application didn’t even work. the ‘updated version’ failed to install. This was the error:
Failed to install.

and after I click Okay, the installation goes on to say Completed, though it obviously failed: here are the details of the failed installation:

So that was on Firefox 3.0. I tried it again on my IE with the Flash Player ActiveX and that ALSO fails to be installed and this was the error:

failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact
your support personnel.
and before each step, I’ve uninstalled it using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller, I didn’t skip that step. I’ve also tried to uninstall it through my Control Panel and through my system32 and even attempted at the cmd.exe which failed horribly.
if anyone out there can help me reinstall my flash, that would be greatly appreciated.

How Do I Neutralize This Code?

i read on some wbste about a cool code that u type and save in a certain format and what it does is- it opns the cd drive whnvr it is clsed- in other words- keeps it opn. when i copied this code on to my computer i accidently opnd it-so it opnd my cd drive and now whenever i close it-it reopns. there was also a code on the website that makes this code happen automatically when the computer gets truned on-in other words- so it wont b a 1 time thing. sounds fnny but i also accidently opnd that. these r the codes:

Which Gtx 285? Couldn’t I Just Overclock It Myself?

I want to buy a gtx 285 but im not sure which one.
There is the BFG Graphics GF GTX 285 1GB PCI-E OCX
Or the cheaper ones. The BFG has a higher clock speed at 702 MHz and higher memory clockspeed at 2.664 GHz. Is this just because the BFG card is an overclocked version of the cheaper ones?
Would it be worth getting a cheaper gtx 285 and just overclocking it myself, would it be just the same?

Crysis Warhead – Cant Update The Patch?

Hello, I downloaded game and offcourse i dint bought it so i had to crack it, but when i downlaoded Crysis wars patch1 it is inpossible to update it always sayz this: “Crysis wars patch installation has been cancelled. Run setup again at a later time to install Crysis Wars Patch” But i did it and still wont insall. So I decided to reinstall whole game, still cant update and also i tried to update it in safe mode but still dont work. Anyone any ideas?????

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 running@ 3.16Ghz
Nvida GeForce 9600GT Ocx 2 from BFG with thermo inteligence
3GB of ddr2 ram
Sata hard drive 250GB stil got 30GB left on it
700w power supply
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Please some1 help i need these updates for that game. Its not working as it should so i need that patches to be there. Also i have patch2 and 3 they wont install too.

How Do I Reformat My Hard Disk Drive?

I am having trouble reformating my hard drive in Windows. I have gone to my computer and tried to reformat the drive using the Disk management utility, and it pops up and error that says “Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure no window is displaying the contents of the drive”.
So I went snooping around and started deleting files on my own, and I have come across the reason behind my lack of the ability to format. The following files are not allowing me to delete them or reformat my drive (even in safe mode):
Flashutil9C
FlDbg9c.ocx
epilogue.ps
AcroIEhelper.dll
AcroPDF.dll
pdfshell.dll
This is on a secondary partition in which I used to have Windows installed, but I now have it installed on another partiion of my drive.
So is there a way for me to kill any and all processes that use those files, and then be able to reformat my hard drive with out using the OS boot CD?

After Installing Intel Core 2 Duo E8500?

Hi
I just installed new Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, and when i turn it on, everything seems to work fine, but when I tried to go and play crisys, its displays like small dots everywhere on monitor. I did try to reinstall my graphic card driver, i have checked Windows Vista Updates. But windows vista also know about this problem and its says that this problem was caused by Nvida Corporation, but all it says is to reinstall graphic card driver after that i tried to reinstall driver nothing has changed it still do those mall colorful dots. I don’t know what do do so please Help. Here are my system specifications:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Processor: Before(Intel Celeron Dual core 1.6 Ghz) now( Intel core 2 duo E8500 3.16ghz)
Ram: 3 GB
Graphic card: BFG GeForce 9600GT OCx with thermo intelligence
Hard Drive: 250GB Maxtor
PSU: 700w
Motherboard is compatible because i have checked it through their website

Pcguard And Startup Group And C++?

I recently clean installed XPpro with SP2 and then pcguard. I found 2 things had gone wrong – there were error messages in ‘alerts’ for sidebyside (loads of them) and in help and support, tools, my computer info, view a list of microsoft software….., in the startup group there are nearly 2000 items listed! exe dll and ocx from the i386 folder maybe.
Is this normal for pcguard and how can I stop it?
Aside from that it is working OK and downloads updates automatically about 4 times a day.
